The Nottinghamshire Primary Schools’ Chess Association coaches are holding courses to learn to play chess for children who attend a Nottinghamshire Primary School.
Dates of these course are on our Calendar page.
Everyone is welcome to attend, whether you are a beginner or a more experienced player aspiring to represent Nottinghamshire in one of our primary age county teams. There is always something to learn from our extensive four year programme. There are four groups and they cater for different levels of ability:
Group one | Very experienced – U11s County team players – usually Years 5 and 6 |
Group two | Good players – Development squad – Years 5 and 6 |
Group three | U9s County team players and Development squad players – Years 3 and 4 |
Group four (10:30am – 12pm) | Developers and beginners. Years 2 and 3. There may be older pupils in this group who are new to chess too. |
Sessions for groups one to three begin at 9am and finish at 12noon. Group four has a later start, beginning at 10:30am and finishes at 12noon.
Children should bring their own drink and a small snack.
All chess coaches are DBS checked.
