NPSCA runs three area leagues for primary schools across Nottinghamshire. Each league gives school teams regular opportunities to play friendly, competitive chess during the school year.

West Area League
The 2025-26 West Area League was won by NHIJS A, with Fernwood A runners-up and NHIJS B third.
South Area League
The 2025-26 South Area League brought together 17 teams from six schools. Abbey Road A were the season winners.
Newark Schools Chess League
The Newark league has been running since 2008-09. Six schools and 12 teams took part in the second meeting of the 2025-26 season.
Under-9 Schools Tournament
The Under-9 Schools Tournament is a separate one-day team event for pupils in Years 2, 3 and 4. It gives younger players a first experience of competitive chess in a supportive learning environment.
