The NPSCA Under-9 Schools Tournament is a one-day team event for pupils in Years 2, 3 and 4. Its aim is to give younger children experience of competitive chess in a supportive learning environment.
School teams consist of four players.
2026 tournament
The 2026 event took place on Thursday 4 June at Nottingham Girls’ High School. Five schools entered 13 teams.
Fernwood A were undefeated winners. Carnarvon A and Carnarvon B were joint runners-up. Carnarvon C, Fernwood B and NHIJS B finished level on four points.
Thank you to Nottingham Girls’ High School for hosting the event. Congratulations to all the young players who took part and received medals.
