The NPSCA Under-9 Schools Tournament took place on Thursday 4 June at Nottingham Girls’ High School.
The tournament is a team event for pupils in Years 2, 3 and 4. Its aim is to give younger players the opportunity to enjoy competitive chess in a supportive learning environment. Each school team consisted of four players.
Five schools entered 13 teams. Fernwood A were undefeated winners, with Carnarvon A and Carnarvon B finishing as joint runners-up. Carnarvon C, Fernwood B and NHIJS B all finished on four points.
